72 hours with Auntie.

Auntie came to visit!!! For 3 days, just over 72 hours, we had a fabulous time with her in Raleigh. It was an extra special treat, and we packed as much fun in as we could. First, there was lots of play time... Reading in the igloo, doing crafts, and shooting arrows.
There was also lots of cuddling, at home and in the car!
We had lunch at school, and Auntie read a book to Lily's class.
Auntie got some good exercise, doing kid-leg-pulls.
We spent a morning at the mall (Auntie needed some good ol' American Consumerism.)
And while we were there the girls scaled a lighthouse.
We took Auntie to check out the new playground at Lily's school.
We went out to a fancy French brunch.

We had our first fire pit!

Lily and Auntie displayed their best friendedness all over the place.
And then we had to say goodbye again...
This was perhaps the greatest birthday surprise there ever was. We love Auntie so much, we always have fun when she's around, and we are so very thankful that she would fly across a whole ocean just to hang out in Raleigh for a couple of days. We are the luckiest girls in the world.

Snow day.

It snowed! It snowed!!! There was snow in Raleigh. Well, sort of. It rained and briefly turned into snow, which dusted the ground. But it did earn the kids a delayed-start at school. Which gave Lily time to go "sledding". (I am using that term very loosly.)

It was sort of pathetic, really. But she didn't mind.
Rory went outside for about 10 minutes and then decided that the cold was not worth it. Little southern belle!

Sleepover

This is maybe the 10th time we've attempted it. The girls kept asking and asking for a sleepover. And we kept saying yes and letting them try. But inevitably, after about 1/2 an hour, Lily would come out complaining that Rory wouldn't let her sleep and they would have to be separated, much to Rory's disappointment. But tonight, for the first time ever, success....

New Years Eve.

We *may* have rung in the new year at 9:30 instead of midnight.
But we did it with good friends.

Sparkler experiments...
Happy 2013!!!
