The Company Picnic.

This is one of Lily's favorite events - the family picnic held every year at the fairgrounds by Daddy's company. There are bounce houses, snow cones, balloon animals, games & prizes, and pony rides. Did I mention the ponies?
They are her favorite part.
And now the Bug is so big, she doesn't even need any help!
She was bummed, though, that she didn't think to wear her cowgirl boots!
There was also a face painting booth. Lily had to warm up to the idea, so she started with a hummingbird on her arm.
After discovering that it tickles, she decided that she needed a moon & stars on her cheek.
And she picked out a heart for Mommy.
Fabulous fun family day!

Carwash!

Things she's said to Auntie.

In the past three days...

"If you ever go in the space shuttle, make sure you wear safe clothes." After showing Auntie her space coloring pages and the "outfits" that astronauts wear.

Upon going into Auntie's room first thing in the morning, "It's seven-zero-two... you're LATE!"

"I'm going to invite you. Put it on the list!" Apparently, Lily was making a list of things she wants to do, including a trip to Great W*lf Lodge, and Auntie's invited.

"No, he doesn't like to whisper. He's NOT real." Referring to the flamingo on the kitchen table trivet. Silly Auntie!

When Auntie told her that she didn't need to yell, Lily responded with, "I do because I'm always excited!"

First School Pictures.

Lily - 4 and 1/2 years old:
The day the pictures were being taken, the Bug of course insisted on wearing a fancy dress. Her fanciest dress. And then about 20 minutes after I dropped her off, I got a call from one of her teachers saying that Lily looked lovely, but that they would be going out to play on the playground and was it okay for her to play in her fancy dress? Don't worry, it was. If Lily wasn't allowed to play in fancy dresses, she'd never be allowed to play!

Her class:Miss Starr, Gavin, Lillian, Michael,
Jason, Lily, Nathan and Mrs. Bacchi.
(Faith & Walker weren't there that day.)

Mother's Day.

I had the most wonderful Mother's Day. It began with little voices waking me up as Daddy carried in a tray of french toast. Lily wanted to know if she could eat her breakfast in my bed too. And when I told her no, she wanted to know how old she had to be for that. I think we finally compromised on 7! But, she and Rory ended up eating at their table and highchair in the corner of my room. Lily insisted right up until her first bite of french toast that she liked pancakes better, but she got over that pretty quickly!

My first gift was this card:

The second was this purse, hand-delivered by Rory:She followed that up by saying "Mama"... twice!

Then Lily blurted out, "And there's a chair for you in the living room!" She's not big on surprises, that one. But I did get this fabulous chair for the porch:
We spent most of the morning at the Raleigh Rose Garden. The girls pretended to be squirrels in a tree.
We stopped to smell the roses!

And Daddy took lots of pictures of us girls.

We checked out the pond.

There were fish in there! We walked through "the tunnel of flowers!!!"

It was such a gorgeous day, and the roses were beautifully, amazingly in bloom.
Seriously - look at all these roses! The girls loved running around.

Lily & I watched a bumblebee collecting pollen for awhile.

After the roses, we went out to lunch, complete with cupcakes. Lily kept looking up at me and saying "Happy Mother's Day!" and Rory said "Mama" some more.

It was a perfect, beautiful day. And I feel so lucky to be Mommy to these two amazing little girls.
