4 Year Check-Up

The Bug went in for her 4-year-old doctor's appointment last week. She's such a big kid now... getting her blood pressure checked, hopping on the scale to get weighed, doing the vision test.

As soon as we arrived, Lily asked Nurse Janet if she'd be getting a shot. Luckily, it was just a finger prick for a blood test, which she did like a champ. She held my hand because "It makes me a little bit nervous to do this", but she didn't even make a sound!

She remains a peanut, though she's catching up a little:

Weight: 32 and 3/4 pounds - 30th percentile
Height: 39 1.2 inches - 45th percentile

The most interesting thing was that the doctor barely talked to me at all. All of his questions were directed to Lily, and I was just there for clarification. And there was no shortage of conversation! Lily talked from the moment he entered the room - "Do you want to see how I can get up on this table all by myself??!! It would be more comfortable without this paper on it." - until we walked out the door, stickers in hand. She told him about school, about Scout, about Rory, about her birthday. She told him she likes to run, but "sometimes when I run really fast, I fall down." When asked if she likes to swim, she said "Yeah. An' you know what makes me swim all by myself?? A life jacket!" After about 15 minutes of nearly nonstop chatter, Dr. Wiles looked at me and said, "So, I guess you don't have any concerns about her speech!" Nope - we're good on that front!

The funniest moment, though, came when Dr. Wiles asked Lily what she likes to do for fun at home. She said, "I like to play with dolls and dress up and have dance parties. And do you want to know what I got for my birthday? I got a dollhouse an' a baby that cries an' a mailbox an' a highchair an'.... I think that's it!"

So then, he asked, "What about crafts?" And Lily told him, very seriously,
"I don't like crabs. Or lobsters. Or sharks."

And really, who can blame her?

More birthday fun!

Not Lily's, but her friend Lillian's. The girls had so much fun at her party.

The theme was cupcakes, not princesses, but that didn't deter the 5 four-year-olds from dressing up as 4 princesses and a prince!

Dress Up!

Everyone has to participate!

Even guests...

A song.

Overheard, while Lily was alone in the playroom, putting all her friends to bed on the loft:

"There's nothing to be scared of.
Mommies do everything right.

I love you so much,
because the sky is blue.
You love me too!

You are my little baby.

Far away was a day!
In a far off land!!!

I don't know what your deal is,
But you're going to have to calm down!

What a day. What a day.

I don't know what your plan was yesterday.
I don't know. I don't know.
But you are the sweetest baby!
Happy Valentine's Day!

Oh no, no, no, no, no, no!!!!

A B C D E F J... You've had a grumpy day!
I've had enough of that!

You are my sweet baby!!!!!"

-Edited because I couldn't write it all down fast enough and because I was laughing so hard. She sang all of this, but she sang a lot more too that I missed! But, I was particularly impressed by her rhyming skills. Silly girl!
