Lily, I wish the mosquitoes would be nice too. Sorry Bug!

Workin' all the live-long day

Lily's newest game is "payin". She brings a toy over to her keyboard and mouse, scans it with the mouse, types on the keyboard, then asks me to type in my "code". She takes her "receipt", says "Have a nice day!" and is off. To get another toy. Lather, rinse, repeat. Earlier this week, we must have repeated this little routine about 100 times.

Anyone else think her Daddy is in trouble???

In all seriousness, this is the most elaborate make-believe game Lily has come up with so far, and it's really fun to watch her get into it and entertain herself. She has a fabulous imagination!

"Do you want to read dis in da box , Daddy?"

That was Lily's suggestion to Daddy tonight, The Pokey Little Puppy in hand...

Good times, good times.

Getting the Crying Out

Lily has a rough time in the late afternoons. That period between waking up from her nap and dinner is always tough; she's extra fragile at that time of day and anything can set her off.

So one day, when she was having a fit because I looked at her wrong, or said "thank-you" when she didn't want me to, or something, I told her she should sit down until she got all the crying out. And she did - she went into her room, climbed into the rocker and cried for a minute or so. And then she came out and announced "I got all da cy-in' out". And then she was fine.

She does this all the time now, whenever something (or nothing) gets her really upset. Hilarious...

Fake smiles

Several times a day, Lily runs to the cabinet where all the electronics are, pulls out the camera and hands it to me, saying "I need to 'mile!" She will happily pose for 2 or 3 pictures and then tell me "Dat's enough!"

What's truly funny, though, are the cheesy, fake smiles she gives me :

In all of these pictures, she's holding a controller for Daddy's xbox. She always gets it when she's pulling out the camera, because as she tells us, "I need to do a li-lull work wif dis!"

As Lily would say, "What a goofy-ball!"

Out of the mouths of babes...

Daddy: "What did you do this afternoon?"

Lily: "Mommy said 'It's my turn lady! What is wrong with you people'?!?!"

Um, in my defense, there were a whole lot of people who seemed unable to understand how a four-way-stop works.

Take two...

We had so much fun yesterday with Lillian & her mommy that we met them again this morning at another pool. This one actually allowed us to play in the big pool as well as the baby pool. No surprise, Lily would rather be in the big pool, swimming with the big kids. We borrowed a life jacket and she actually "swam" a little all on her own.

She also had lots of fun on this raft in the baby pool:

I ended up having to drag her out of the pool because she was shivering and her lips were purple! Here's my girl, all cuddled up for a snack after all the fun:

Wild Kingdom!

In our yard, on a daily basis, we have bunnies. We have squirrels. We have chipmunks, lizards and LOTS of birds. Lily loves to watch them all and she talks to them in the sweetest little voice, calling to each of them and cooing at them. When they disappear from view, she will ask where they went and then tell us either that "He went back to his house" or "He went to find his lizard (or bunny, whatever) fw-ends!" All animals seem to be male.

Anyway, now we have a new "friend" for Lily to admire... a praying mantis that was hanging out on our window.

She was so excited to see him. She told me over and over that "Dare's a pwayin' mantis in my ladybug book, like da one on da window!"

General Silliness

Today, in a parking lot, Lily informed me that "Dat car is singin'!" (They were playing their music rather loudly.) And also that "Dat is a silly car!" I have to agree that school-bus-yellow Hummers are ridiculous. Wonder how much is costs to fill that sucker up??

We also had big fun today at the pool with Lillian & her Mommy:

Already talking her way out of things...

Lily, to Mommy, at breakfast: "Go away!"

Daddy: "That's not a very nice way to talk to Mommy."

Lily: "I sink I was jus sayin' GO AWAY STATE*"

Daddy: "Oh, okay then"

*When we taught Lily the words to the Carolina Fight song, we told her the last line was "go away state" rather than "go to h*ll state".

Did you hear that?!

Lily to mommy, tonight, at dinner: "Can you do me a favor, can you get me some milk? Please?"

Anything when you ask that nice, sweetpea!

I just love this little face...

Baby Megan & her apple...

Lily is so very excited about her new cousin "Baby Megan". She asks to see her pictures every day, multiple times a day. She loves all of them, especially the ones that also have Evan in them. But she has two favorites. The first, is the one of Megan on a scale, right after she was born. "Can we see how much she weighs??" The other is a picture of Megan and an apple the size of her head:

This is what happened yesterday, when Lily & Daddy were left to their own devices:

"I eatin" Baby Megan's apple!!"

Playdate...

Our friend Emily came over this morning while her Mommy went to the doctor. She and Lily had a blast trashing the playroom...

And coloring together...

And hanging out in the box!
Actually, Lily's biggest problem isn't sharing, but sticking up for herself when toys are snatched out of her hands. But several times this morning, I heard "Oh my! NOOO Emily!!" so I guess she's getting over that!

A purrr-pluh bicycle!

Gammy & Bumpa got Lily her first bicycle, and Lily was really excited that it's purple. She was also thrilled to make Bumpa push her around and around and around again! When I tried to push her, to give Bumpa's back a rest, Lily told me "I don't need ANY help! I jus' need help with BUMPA!"

Also, after hearing one of us say that she looked ready to ride all the way back to Raleigh, she kept telling us "I ready to head back to Wally!"

In other exciting news, Lily made the three hour road trip, both ways, with no accidents! She's awesome.

Are you kidding me?!?!

Lily, to Mommy earlier today: "You have a BIG toushie and I have a little toushie!"

Bug, it's a good thing you're cute...

Is there anything yummier than cookie dough??

Or more fun than baking?

If there is, Lily hasn't discovered it yet! Love at first taste...
