Silly Bug

Lily, this afternoon, trying on all her outerwear:

This evening, Lily spent a good 15 minutes running back & forth between her playroom and the family room, carrying out this picnic for all of us:
She spent several minutes getting each set of color-coordinated dishes arranged just the way she wanted them. Then she spent several more minutes carefully placing each piece of food on a specific plate. Except for Scout's food, which she put on the floor!

We used to have a strict rule that Lily could only bring one or two "friends" to bed with her each night, but lately she's been asking for a couple more, and we've decided that this isn't worth arguing over. But tonight, when we asked her who we should put in her crib, this is what we ended up with:I don't know how she'll find any room to lay down, but Lily seems to think the more, the merrier!

Lily & Daddy read a story:

Lily snuggles with Daddy & Scoutie:
What will I do when you're too big for footie-jammies, LilyBug?? Oh, how your Daddy & I will miss how sweet & snuggly you look.

Lily & I spent the morning at our favorite Museum in Durham and since the weather was so gorgeous, we actually got to see all the outdoor animals - bears, wolves and lemurs (or leee-mores as someone likes to call them) - in one visit. Every other time we've been, some of the animals have been hiding inside. It was a red letter day, and Lily was most excited to see the bears up close & personal...

"What dis is??"

Imagine that in a most demanding tone, about 800 times a day, and you've got life with Lily lately! Our very curious girl has finally learned how to voice her questions, and she's taking full advantage.

Other fun Lily-isms... She was playing with the brooms in the driveway the other day - a favorite pastime - and when I asked her what she was doing, she replied "I brooming!" Which goes along with how she was "spooning" yogurt at breakfast the other day.

When Shawn asked her where she got her chicken that she was having for dinner, he expected her to reply with some mangled version of Ch*ck-F*l-A. But what she actually said was "Can-o-lina". We have no idea where that one came from!!

Lily, you have some wacky ideas and you say the funniest things. Thank-you for keeping our lives so silly!

Too cute!

After all those months with my bald girl, I have to say, I love playing with bows and pigtails...

Yard "Work"

Lily spent most of the three-day weekend helping Mommy & Daddy with yard work. Luckily, there's nothing this girl likes better than being outside. Back in the day, when she would get really upset, Daddy would put her in the sling and walk around the yard. The moment she got out the door, she would start to calm down. These days, she'd prefer to run around, but being outside is still a sure-fire way to improve any grumpy mood from the Bug.

On Saturday, Lily was all about breaking in her new sunglasses. She picked them out last week at Target. When she was having a hard time deciding between two pairs, I told her that these ones were "like Auntie's", and that sealed the deal! Here she is modeling them for Daddy:

She tried really hard to take me for a ride in the wagon:

And then had some fun riding in the wagon with Scoutie:

Lily also wanted to help Daddy mow the lawn. The girl just can't get enough of the "mow-mow":

And the yard looks great - it was a good weekend all around.

Happy Easter!

Here's Lily on Easter morning, looking for her eggs:

"Wait, you mean sometimes these eggs have treats in them???"

"And sometimes those treats are jelly beans???"

Posing with her basket:Happy Easter!

Here we go... You may need to turn up the volume to hear LilyBug's tiny little voice.

At the end, we've been singing "Now you know your ABC's. Next time, Lily sing with me." But Lily changed it to "Next time Mommy sing to you."

Fair enough.

A Girl & Her Dog

It's generally a one-sided love affair.

But Scout is starting to return some of Lily's affections.

Her Highness will see you now...

You can't tell from these, but in addition to the crown, she also had on her "fancy shoes", and also wore her apron while she was preparing the spread that's on the table.

Easter Egg Hunt

Today at playgroup, Lily had her 1st Easter Egg hunt. It was a riot to watch these 6 two-year-olds running around outside and trying to figure out what us mommies were so excited about.

Lily may look confused in some of these pictures, or like she's not quite sure what she's supposed to do. Don't be fooled. There were enough eggs for each of the kids to find 3 or 4. At the end, Lily had 8 eggs in her basket! I guess we'll be ready if the Bunny makes an appearance this weekend.

I don't think I like St. Patrick's Day!

It might just be because someone stole a package off the front porch, so now I don't have a special St. Patty's Day shirt, but I am not enjoying all the festivities today.

Why would anyone wear this hat??

And what's with the goofy headbands that Mommy keeps trying to get me to wear??

And don't even get me started on the head-piece Daddy fashioned for me:

And I don't want to wear a green shirt - just my green bow from Kevin:

Happy St. Patrick's Day, from a most un-willing leprechaun!!

Great Grandma Milly

We just got back from a week in Florida, visiting "Gamma Milly" who has been having a rough time of it lately. Lily was happy to do her part to cheer her up:

Lily and Milly really enjoyed their visits. Lily liked all of the light switches and the keyboard in the hospital room.

We managed to teach her that red buttons are "dange-rous!!", especially the ones on the side of the hospital bed. Don't worry, no great-Grandmothers were harmed in these lessons!!

Get well soon, Gamma Milly!

"Lily see Ocean!"

That's what she kept squealing.
It was like being reunited with an old friend...

If you give a girl a pita...

Don't be surprised when this happens:

"What, you mean you're not supposed to eat it from the side?!?!"

The hole that she nibbled was awfully handy for quickly getting all of the cheese out of the pita and onto the floor!

Chillin' at the Pool

Our girl still likes to swim (and splash!) in the pool.

And she really likes hanging out in the hot tub!
She had Daddy running back and forth between the two all morning.
