You try and get nine 8-month olds to sit still!! (Analise, Lillian, Wyatt, Isla, Kailey, Sydney, Addisen, Lily & Nicholas)
Lily and Ana (Curious George) - Lily's antennae were a big hit!
Lily & Kailey (Duck)
Lily & Isla - one VERY enthusiastic cheerleader - she even had pom-poms that her grandma made her.
Lily is about to wake up from her nap and then we are off to trick-or-treating at Shawn's office. More pictures from that adventure later...
A sleepy mom & dad
PS. Here she is last week, actually sleeping...

Lily and Daddy on the slide:
Lily's first ride on the swings: But Lily's most favorite thing was the bouncy duck:

"Hmmm... these are too little. Let's look at some bigger pumpkins!"
"I want this one!" (Notice the tongue out - that's deep concentration!)
But, as expected, Lily was most interested in eating the hay. We all had big fun. For the rest of the pictures we took, click here...

Lily's newest tricks are giving high five and waving bye-bye. I keep trying to catch them on video, but she doesn't want to perform on camera. I'll keep trying though.

In addition, Lily has started to try to "cruise" along the furniture and she's also started to pull herself up and then let go!! She can only stand on her own for about a second and a half before she falls, but she keeps on trying. Slow down little girl!

At that meal, she tried and loved a french fry and a lemon wedge. Later this week, we went out to lunch with Grammy and she chowed down on mashed potatoes, another lemon wedge and asparagus. When I tried to give her a piece of strawberry, the dramatic gagging began. She wasn't really choking, just showing me that she thinks strawberries are nasty, vile things that she shouldn't be forced to eat. I get this reaction from her all the time when we try new things. I just think it's hilarious that she'll suck on a lemon and eat asparagus for crying out loud, but not a nice sweet strawberry or a fresh pear. Strange tastes!
After playgroup, Lily & I hightailed it out of town for the week to escape the quarter-close at Daddy's work. We spent the week at Grammy & Grandpa's. Lily had a blast - she loved visiting Grammy at her store - so much to look at and so much to get into! And there were all kinds of new things to touch and new places to crawl at their house. Lily did lots of exploring. But I think she had the most fun playing with Holly, and trying to steal her tennis ball:
We also got to visit Auntie Erin at school:
And the playground:
Before we drove home, we stopped to visit Grandpa at work and Lily had lunch at a restaurant for the third time this week - talk about ladies who lunch! She also got a little lesson in safety - "Safety First!"
It was a great week, and it's nice to be home. Today our little bug is 8 months old. She has changed more this past month than in any other... A month ago I could sit her down on a blanket with her toys and she would play contentedly for up to a half hour. Now there's no point in putting down a blanket, because she's almost never sitting still. She has places to go and things to do. It's so funny to watch her play, because she's so busy and so very serious! She crawls over to a toy, picks it up, tastes it, bangs it on the floor, then knocks two together, the whole time looking at them intensely, wondering "Hmm, what will happen when I do this?" And then something else catches her eye, and she's off to investigate. She's pretty much an expert at this crawling thing now, so she's working on crawling up a step and on standing. She'd much rather "walk" than crawl, so she's forever pulling herself up on the nearest available thing. She's so much more vocal these days. She talks to me in the car, and sometimes she "sings" along when I sing her a song at bedtime (hilarious!!). She continues to get more affectionate - She gives hugs now! And she is starting to try to do the sign for "milk". But even with all that's changed, she remains toothless and bald! We're going to get her 8 month portraits taken today, so
we'll post those soon...

In cute news, it seems that Lily has inherited her daddy's "concentration" face. She sticks her tongue out whenever she's trying to figure out something new. And when she gets really frustrated, she scrunches up her nose and her mouth and breathes out really loudly, like some sort of angry monkey. It's a pretty impressive pout, actually. I think she might have gotten that from me.
"Hey Scout, wanna play?"
