On the Move

Lily really, really wants to crawl. So far though, she can only go in reverse or spin in circles on her belly. This frustrates her enormously:

Lily still thinks that Scout is the greatest and funniest thing ever! And one of Lily's favorite things to do is give Scout a treat:

So far, we've managed to keep the dog treats out of Lily's mouth. I wonder how much longer that streak will last?? Especially because Lily's latest feat is eating Cheerios! It's too cute - she gets excited when she sees the big yellow box. We've tried giving her some other table foods (bananas and avocados) but those have been less of a hit. Actually, they were met with the same look she gives me when I try to give her water - it says "Hey Lady, what are you trying to do, poison me??"

Carolina Girl

Had to get pictures before the outfit gets too small....

... And before the excorcist imitation with sweet pea spit-up that came later today!

She's on the chart!

Lily had her 6 month doctor's appointment today and for the first time since birth, her weight was on the chart rather than below it! Our little peanut now weighs 13 pounds, 7 ounces (7th percentile) and she's 25 inches tall (20th percentile). Her apparently big head is in the 55th percentile. And, since she had her pacifier in her mouth, she only whimpered during her shots... So brave!

Here she is spending some quality time with Grandpa, who visited us earlier this week:

Happy Half Birthday!

Where, oh where, has the time gone? How is it possible that our Lily-Bug is six months old??
.
We just got back from her first trip to the beach... Lily had the BEST time. It was so nice for her to have a whole week with Daddy, and with Grammy, Grandpa and Auntie Erin. And it was nice for them to have a whole week with Lily, especially right now, as it seems she is changing every day.
.
.
Though she liked the feel of sand between her toes and fingers, she's still not too sure about the great big ocean...
.
.
.
She cried whenever we got her too close to the crashing waves. She did love being on the beach at a safe distance from the water though. I guess we'll just have to keep trying!

Though she's still a tiny little munchkin (about 13 pounds - doctor's appointment isn't until next week), she eats like a kid twice her size. The amount of food she can put away is frightening! So far, she likes all of the vegetables (though it took a few tries to get her to eat green beans) and she LOVES pears. Cereal is something she will put up with in order to get to the good stuff. We keep trying to give her a sippy cup, but every time Lily gets a mouthful of water she gives me this look as though I've tried to poison her.
.
Apparently, what she really wants are tootsie rolls:

.
She grabs for everything now, not just what we dangle in front of her. Of particular interest are full wine glasses and coffee mugs, along with noses and bottom lips. She also is hard at work on developing her baby death grip, which she practices on Mommy's hair. So that Daddy doesn't feel left out, Lily practices on him whenever he puts her up on his shoulders, which is pretty much her favorite thing ever.
.
Other fun new developments include sticking her tongue out (all the time!) and thinking about trying to crawl. She can hold herself up in a crawling pose and even rock back and forth a little bit. She's certainly getting motivated - yesterday she rolled across the blanket to get to a toy she wanted. Also, since Lily has been fascinated by Scout for awhile now, we have started teaching her how to "pet nice" and how to give Scout a treat. Scout is starting to think that Lily is not such a bad thing after all!
.
And, in what is certainly my favorite new development, one night as it was getting close to bedtime and Lily was getting fussy with her Daddy, I walked over and put my arms out and for the first time ever, she reached for me. Totally made me cry. It's only happened that on time so far, but I'll take it!

Like I said, we had the best time ever! It was hard to come home, but so far Lily seems to be getting back into her old routine fairly well. For some more pictures from the beach adventure, click here.

Which way to the beach??

Lily is leaving on Saturday for a whole week at the beach, with her Grammy & Grandpa, Auntie Erin, Mommy, Daddy and three (!!!) dogs... Wish us luck!

Lily is very excited - here she is practicing her sunbathing techniques:
