Leavin' on a Jet Plane

All her bags were packed, she was ready to go... It's Lily's 1st plane ride!

"I like airplanes!"

We just got back from a long weekend down in Florida, where Lily got to meet her Great Grandma Milly (Shawn's grandmother). They seemed to really enjoy each other's company.

Not only did Lily get to cuddle with her Great Grandma, but she also got to go to her very 1st "happy hour" at condo complex and show off for all of Milly's friends. She was a big hit!

Grandma Milly's place is especially fabulous because it's right on the ocean, and there's a pool - so Lily got to experience both for the first time, which also meant that she got to wear her 1st bathing suit! Here she is dipping her toes in the ocean...

"hmm... I'm not sure how I feel about this..."

"Okay, I've decided - I hate it!!"

Since she didn't seem that crazy about that, we tried the pool instead...

No luck there either! Apparently, lounging next to the pool is more Lily's thing for right now:

We also got to drive a little further south so that Lily could meet her great-aunt Cassie & great-uncle Dick (Kelly's aunt & uncle). Lily had a great time getting to know them and giving out smiles like they were going out of style. She thought that Uncle Dick was especially funny.

"Yay! I love it here!"

And here is Miss Thang, modeling her new pink raincoat from Aunt Cassie. Apparently, she loves it!

Lily was entirely amazing on this trip - she totally surprised both Mommy & Daddy with what a good girl she was. She was good on the plane, even though she didn't sleep like we had hoped. And she was great with all the new people she met and saw. And she even slept well - this trip will forever be remembered as when Lily finally learned how to nap for more than 30 minutes at a time - and in strange beds no less! Go Lily (Mommy thanks you from the bottom of her heart!)

Thumb or Finger?

It doesn't really matter - Lily is an indiscriminate sucker:

And my goodness, she has a lot to say!!

Father's Day Fun

After much debate, Lily and Scout came up with a really fun Father's Day gift for Shawn... a ride on this bi-plane!

Here's Lily & Daddy in their aviator helmets
(Don't worry, Lily remained safely on the ground!):

This is a shot from the day before -

Lily & Daddy cruising the mall before their photo shoot:

Not to get too sappy here, but it has been one of the most amazing experiences of my life to watch Shawn become Lily's daddy. He is so sweet, patient and gentle with her (not a surprise to anyone who knows him, certainly). And even more amazing has been Lily's response to her Dad - she lights up when he comes into a room and gives him these adoring smiles that she saves just for him... it just melts my heart to watch it. Happy Father's Day!

Fun with Auntie!

Auntie Erin came to visit us this past weekend and Lily just loved hanging out with her! Erin got more giggles than we've ever heard and got Lily to chat up a storm.

It was also nice because Mommy & Daddy got to go out on Saturday night. We had a nice dinner and saw a movie for the first time since Lily's arrival. It's so nice to be able to go out and not worry about Lily, knowing she's in such good hands!

Just chillin'

Auntie Erin, you're so funny!

4 month check-up

Our little peanut wants to remain that way... her latest stats:

Weight - 10 lbs, 8.5 oz. (5th percentile)
Height - 24 inches (35th percentile)
Head - 15.75 (25th percentile)

The doctor was pleased with everything though and we don't have to start solids yet (woo hoo!) Lily handled the shots much better this time (as did Mommy). But here's a picture of her passed out after all the excitement:

How is this comfortable?? Notice that she is holding onto her pacifier for dear life!

Keep on Rollin'

Check out Lily's latest trick... She just started this a couple days ago:

Someday soon she will realize that she can keep rolling and become semi-mobile, but right now she just goes back and forth. Happily, she no longer hates being on her tummy, now that she can control when it happens!

We are off to her 4 month doctor's appointment, which includes 3 shots... Wish us luck!

A comparison

On the left is Lily at 2 weeks, demonstrating how little she was...

...And on the right, here she is again at almost 4 months - look how BIG she's gotten! It's a statement about the randomness of baby-clothing-sizes that the same onesie still fits.

And, this is sort of old news by now, but we finally caught Lily rolling over on video this weekend, so here you go:

Such a big girl

Lily now prefers to sit up in her stroller, rather than reclining in her bucket. Here she is last weekend at a restaurant, sitting right at the table with us, rather delighted with herself:
