Lily has passed the 8 pound mark. Yay! How do we know? We have a scale at home to weigh her on. Here by popular demand is her being weighed, on the cookie sheet:

This means two things... some of her clothes finally fit:

Look at me! I love my real clothes!

Thanks for the outfit Gabby, but I am so mad that my mom is making me wear the hat!!

And, she is now allowed to ride in her bjorn, which she seems to enjoy:

Lily has also decided that she likes tummy time, if she can rest on mommy's exercise ball:

And, she likes to escape from her "swaddle me" blanket during nap time...

That's all for now, but Lily is being baptized this weekend, and meeting lots family for the 1st time, so stay tuned.

Weight Gain

Some of you know that Miss Lily has been having some trouble with gaining weight. Turns out that Mommy wasn't making enough milk. Last week we went in for a weight check and she had only gained 6 ounces in two weeks, and still hadn't gotten back to her birth weight... Our pediatrician recommended that Mommy take an herbal remedy and come back in a week.

So today, Lily weighed in again and she gained 6 ounces in one week (!!!) and is back at her birth weight. Good work Lily - keep it up! :)

1 month old!

It's so hard to believe that a whole month has gone by since Lily was born! The past few weeks are a blur of late-night feedings, diaper changes and pacing the house, hoping to make this tiny little person happy! We're starting to see some patterns and have gotten into something of a routine, or as much of one as you can hope for with a newborn.

Lily continues to amaze us every day. Her faces are priceless and she is so expressive. She has started to respond to us when we talk to her. Sometimes she'll make eye-contact with those beautiful blue eyes of hers, but mostly she likes to stare at the light coming in through the blinds on our windows. She stares and makes a face that seems to say "Oooh!!" She has smiled for Shawn a couple of times, and she has a dimple! She's yet to discover that her vocal chords are good for things besides crying, but her doctor assures us that cooing will come very soon. Her awake times are getting longer and happier. She seems to really like her activity mat and will lay happily on it for 10-15 minutes at a time. She loves to look at herself in the mirror! There's one on the play mat and she seems quite fond of that other baby she can see! She holds her head up like a big kid - and has since she was a week old. If she's laying on my shoulder, or across my lap, she picks her head up and can hold it steady. The pediatrician said she was a show-off!

In the past week, we've started taking Lily out of the house for short trips - to Target, Babies R Us, the grocery store, etc. Today she & I went to the mall and I got her 1 month pictures taken at Sears. She did pretty well, by which I mean that she slept through most of it! We have also been taking advantage of the gorgeous weather (in the 80's this past weekend) and doing lots of laps around the neighborhood. Lily seems to love both her stroller and riding in the car. But she does NOT like having to stop at red lights - lots of crying involved with that. She's still too small for her baby bjorn (a front carrier), but Daddy has figured out a way to rig it so that she fits and she seems to like that as well. However, the sling that Mommy bought last week just makes her scream... Sigh. Lots of trial and error!

Everyone's favorite question for the new parents seems to be "Is she sleeping at night?" We tried everything to get her to sleep at night for the first three weeks - we tried her cradle, the co-sleeper, the pack-n-play, her swing and even her bucket (carseat)... nothing worked. We would end up pacing the floor with her or with one of us sleeping upright in the glider or on the couch, with her on our chest. What finally worked? Putting her in her crib in her own room - she didn't want to sleep with us!! She'll sleep for 3 hours at a time at night and go right back down after nighttime feedings. Little Miss Independent...

Okay, enough of me talking. I know what y'all really want... New pictures are below.

Lily's 1st Bath

So here's how this went:

Lily's patented one-eyed glance - not sure how she feels about this...

Wow! Getting cold here, people.

(Check out the cute belly button, though!)

Mommy's nervous, and Lily's getting angry!

Ahhh... much better!

No more stump!

Lily has a belly button, and we must say, it's adorable! Her cord stump fell off in the night. She's such a big girl... This weekend she gets her 1st "real" bath. Photos will be posted!
